Art and Artefact returns

Wooden hat stand
Hat Stand

The long awaited Art and Artefact exhibition is coming next year. It will be a bigger and more riveting than last year. This time it will showcase the works of Helen McIntosh and myself. The show will be held at the Richard Randall Art Studio, in the beautiful Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha, Toowong from the 20th to the 24th May 2022.

With less than a year to go before Art and Artefact, I am busy planning and creating. This year I am making more hats and more pictures, learning new skills and trying different ideas.

Hat Stands

My husband Shaun is so excited about the event he made some beautiful wooden wooden hat stands to enhance the display.

Below are some process photos of the elegant Shaker Bonnet Stands he has created.

The hat stands were made on two different wood lathes. As the mid post is so large it had to be turned in several sections. Thanks to the Wynnum Manly Men’s shed, Shaun was able to use their lathe to do this. The smaller parts like the beads and dowels were turned on a different lathe. Thanks to our friend Derrick for letting Shaun use his.

The wood is Tassie oak bought when the hardware chain Masters was going bankrupt.
